Thousands Of Range Rovers May Have A Safety Flaw Lurking Behind The Dashboard

Recall of Range Rover Evoque Due to Airbag Issue

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a recall of nearly 21,000 Range Rover Evoque crossovers from model years 2021–2025. The reason is a potential malfunction of the front passenger airbag, which may tear upon deployment. This increases the risk of injury and could also lead to the leakage of hot gases, posing a burn hazard.

The issue was discovered during testing conducted by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Initially, the inspection did not confirm the defect, but further investigations revealed that the cause may be uneven folding of the airbag.

“This creates an unreasonable risk to safety,” the statement says.

How the Problem is Being Resolved

JLR emphasized that there have been no reported cases of injury due to this defect so far. However, to prevent risks, dealers will replace the airbag module and related components. Owners will receive recall notifications by the end of August.

Airbags remain one of the key safety features, but recently manufacturers have been increasingly facing technical problems related to their operation. In the case of the Evoque, the timely detection of the defect will help avoid serious consequences, and the replacement procedure will not require significant effort from the owners.
