New Morgan Supersport 400: The most powerful and most expensive production car from the British marque
Morgan has been proving for decades that old-school charm and modern performance can peacefully coexist in one garage. Now, it has pushed this idea further than ever before, introducing the new Morgan Supersport 400 — the most powerful production car in the history of the Malvern-based company.
Heart and Dynamics
At the heart of the Supersport 400 lies the turbocharged 3.0-liter BMW B58 inline-six engine, the same one installed in the Toyota GR Supra. Here it is tuned to deliver 402 hp (406 PS). This makes it the first production Morgan to surpass the 400 hp mark. This power is enough to accelerate the lightweight two-seater coupe from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, two-tenths faster than its predecessor.
This is serious performance for a car that still looks like it should come with a pair of aviator goggles. However, hidden beneath the pre-war styling is a modern aluminum chassis. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, and buyers can pay extra for a limited-slip differential.
Chassis and Handling
Standard equipment includes the Dynamic Handling Pack from Morgan with revised suspension geometry, forged 19-inch Sportlite alloy wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires, and adjustable Nitron dampers. These dampers have 24 clicks of adjustment, so whether your local roads resemble a billiard table or ancient English cobblestones, there is likely a suitable setting, albeit a manual one.

Design and Interior
Visual updates include new vents on the front fenders to improve airflow and visually distinguish the 400 model from the lesser Supersport, as well as contrasting lower body trim and a new active exhaust system. Bronze alloy wheels are a pleasant option for £995 ($1,350).
Inside, the car remains analog in spirit but with modern updates. Therefore, there are new Alcantara upholstery options, custom stitching, and specific instruments. They may look old-fashioned, but modern electronics are hidden behind them. Also available is an aluminum gear selector, replacing the standard, boring BMW part, which makes one wish the Germans offered it on their cars.
Price and Production
Prices start from £112,965 ($152,600) before taxes, equivalent to £135,558 ($183,200) in the UK. This is £7,242 more than the £105,723 ($142,900) for the standard Supersport, which remains in production. Production of the new model will begin next month at Morgan’s factory on Pickersleigh Road in Malvern. As always, each car will be hand-built and offer extensive customization options, so no two will be alike.
Thus, Morgan is not just updating its model range, but making a bold statement: traditions and modern technologies can not just coexist, but create a unique product. The use of the BMW engine, which has already proven itself in many models, allows the company to focus on what it does best — design, chassis, and a unique driving experience. The £113,000 price tag positions the Supersport 400 in a niche of exclusive sports cars, where it will compete not so much on technical specifications, but on uniqueness and a handcrafted approach to production. This is a car for those who value history and individuality more than dry acceleration statistics.
