Toyota GR created the Corolla Cross of your dreams, but found you don’t deserve it

Updated Toyota Corolla Cross debuts in Japan

The Japanese market has received the updated version of the Toyota Corolla Cross, featuring a new design and special features. Key changes include:

GR Sport’s sporty character

While the Corolla Cross has always been a practical crossover, the update has given it a more aggressive character. The GR Sport version features:

“Aggressive body kit, black 19-inch wheels, red brake calipers, and a 10mm lowered suspension with stiffer springs.”

The interior hasn’t been overlooked either – it now includes bucket seats with faux suede, gray stitching, and GR Sport logos.

Technical features for the Japanese market

Japanese buyers get unique features unavailable in other markets:

  • “Snow Extra” mode for the E-Four all-wheel-drive system
  • “Signal Road Projection” system that projects turn signals onto the road

The heart of the GR Sport is a 2.0-liter engine with a 10-speed transmission, while other versions get a 1.8-liter hybrid setup.

Additional customization options

For those who want to further personalize their vehicle, Toyota offers:

  • Additional body kit from GR Parts for $1,700
  • Carbon license plate holder for $140
  • Sport floor mats for $320
  • Additional body stiffening elements for $1,200

For fans of a more elegant style, Modellista accessories are available, including aerodynamic elements and chrome details.

Interestingly, despite the sporty nature of the update, Toyota engineers maintained a moderate approach, avoiding overly aggressive solutions like a huge rear wing. This allows the crossover to retain its practicality while adding just the right amount of sportiness.
