Toyota Promises to Install a Home Charging Station for Your Electric Car in Just Two Days

Toyota and Lexus Collaborate with Treehouse to Simplify Home Charging

Electric vehicles are a convenient solution for daily commutes if you have the ability to charge them at home. However, the process of installing a home charging station often proves to be complex, requiring estimates, technician visits, and lengthy discussions. Toyota is offering a new approach to solving this problem.

New Service from Treehouse

Toyota’s North American division, in partnership with Treehouse, a company specializing in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, is launching a service to simplify the installation of Level 2 home charging devices. Instead of traditional multi-step procedures, owners only need to upload a few photos of the installation site and fill out a short survey. Treehouse promises to provide an estimate within 48 hours, after which technicians will perform the installation.

This method avoids preliminary assessment visits to determine the optimal location and check the electrical grid. Treehouse uses its own technologies and customer photos to analyze the required work. If electrical wiring upgrades are needed, licensed electricians are involved in the process.

Standard Equipment for New Models

Starting in 2026, every battery electric vehicle or hybrid (PHEV) from Toyota and Lexus sold in the USA will be equipped with a dual-voltage 120V/240V charger. This device supports Level 1 charging (from a standard outlet) and Level 2 (accelerated charging). Overnight, such charging can fully replenish a battery from 10%, which fully satisfies the needs of most drivers.

We are excited to partner with Toyota to enhance the electric vehicle ownership and home charging experience for Toyota and Lexus customers. By providing seamless, comprehensive home charging solutions, this partnership reflects our shared commitment to making electric vehicles easier and more accessible for consumers.

Option for Accelerated Charging

For those for whom standard charging is insufficient, Toyota offers the option to install a more powerful Level 2 ChargePoint Home Flex charging device. This device, which is mounted directly into the electrical network, can reduce charging time by approximately 30%. Its cost is $524, provided the home wiring allows it.

The initiative by Toyota and Lexus aims to eliminate one of the key obstacles to the mass adoption of electric vehicles—the complexity of organizing home charging. The partnership with Treehouse not only automates the process but also integrates it into the car purchase, making the transition to electric transport smoother for the average buyer. This step also demonstrates how automakers are beginning to take responsibility for the full vehicle ownership cycle, going beyond simple sales. The success of this program could become a model for other companies, contributing to the further growth of the electric vehicle market by improving the user experience.
