Toyota Electric Crossover Update
Toyota has introduced the updated version of its electric crossover for the 2026 model year, which is now called simply bZ, instead of the previous name bZ4X. Despite numerous changes in design and technology, the base model has become cheaper by $2,170 compared to its predecessor, which could make it more attractive to buyers in the USA, where the model has not yet gained widespread popularity.
Trims and Prices
The base version bZ XLE FWD now costs $34,900 excluding the $1,450 delivery fee. It features an updated front end and colored fenders instead of black elements. This model has a 57.7 kWh battery and a front electric motor with a power of 221 hp.
For those who need more range, the bZ XLE FWD Plus version with a 74.7 kWh battery is offered starting at $37,900. The all-wheel-drive variant bZ XLE AWD with two motors and a large battery is also available for $39,900.
Conversely, the top Limited trims have become more expensive: the front-wheel-drive variant costs $43,300 (plus $1,500), and the all-wheel-drive one — $45,300 (plus $1,420).

Technological Updates
An important update for the 2026 model year is the implementation of the North American Charging System (NACS) port, which will allow owners to use the Tesla Supercharger network. In the interior, all models have received a standard 14-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone chargers, and customizable ambient lighting. Furthermore, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for adjusting regenerative braking have been added, which is similar to the solution from Hyundai.
These changes indicate Toyota’s strategy to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle market by making base models more affordable, while offering additional options for those willing to pay more. Access to the Tesla Supercharger network could significantly improve charging convenience, which is a key factor for many electric vehicle buyers.
