The Lego Technic constructor for $99 can do what the $46,000 Ford Mustang GT still can’t

Lego has introduced a new Ford Mustang GT set from the Technic series. Its special feature is the ability to change the appearance thanks to two different body kits.

Details of the new Lego Technic set

The set, called Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT, will go on sale on August 1st. It consists of 973 parts and, according to the manufacturer, will allow buyers to embark on a “journey of creativity” through customization.

The standard version of the car resembles a road-going Mustang GT. It has a bright appearance with blue and pink accents. The model is also equipped with a handle on the roof that allows you to control the car. Other features include a hood that opens to reveal an eight-cylinder engine, which, according to Lego, moves.

Two tuning kits in one set

While this sounds fairly typical for Lego Technic, the set also includes 12 alternative components. Among them are a ram air intake on the hood, an aggressive front splitter, and a prominent rear wing. The set also includes a more sporty rear section, unique side skirts, and different doors with graffiti graphics. Lego notes that owners can mix and match components from both the standard and racing sets to create a unique look.

Specifications and price

The set is designed for children aged 10 and up and will cost $99.99 USD. When assembled, the car measures approximately 27 cm in length, 13 cm in width, and 9 cm in height. Lego also noted that the set can be assembled using the Builder app, which “allows children to zoom in, rotate in 3D, and track progress with simple digital instructions.”

H/T to Brickset

Interestingly, this Lego Technic set offers a level of customization that even real cars often lack. The ability to change not only the color but also entire body elements, such as the hood, splitter, and wing, makes the building process more exciting. For Mustang fans, this is a great opportunity to create their own unique version of the iconic sports car without spending tens of thousands of dollars on real tuning. The $100 price tag makes the set an affordable gift for children and adults interested in cars and construction sets.
