On May 28, the largest technical festival OldCarLand begins. Hundreds of antique cars will gather among dozens of airplanes at the O.K. Antonov State Aviation Museum on 1 Medova Street. The event will last until May 30 inclusive.
We offer you to get acquainted with the ‘seven’ most interesting technical exhibits
1. The oldest ‘Zaporozhets’
For the first time at the festival, the oldest ZAZ-965 ‘Zaporozhets’ in the world will be shown, made in the early days of production. It has the number 186. The car has many differences from the later well-known versions.
2. The last USSR limousine in its original form
At the event, the Soviet limousine Zil-115 will be presented, which was once used to transport the leader of Soviet Ukraine, Volodymyr Shcherbytskyi. This handmade car has many interesting technical solutions and more than 10 layers of factory paint.
3. The first mass-produced car in the world
Ford T 1912 will come to the festival from Lviv. The car is special because it was released a year before mass production began. It features carbide lamps, wooden wheels, and a distinctive engine sound. This model became the most mass-produced in the world at the beginning of the 20th century, with over 16 million units sold.
4. Kennedy family’s Bentley
Bentley S2 from 1959 is the first Bentley model with a V-shaped 8-cylinder engine. Its first owners were a couple from the United Kingdom, as evidenced by a nameplate in the cabin with their engraved names. There is also evidence that the car was used in the entourage of American President Kennedy.
5. The emperor’s Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce Corniche III with a convertible top is the only car in such condition in Ukraine. Only 452 of these were made. One of these convertibles was used as a ceremonial car by the Emperor of Japan.
6. The first post-war Peugeot
Peugeot-203 began production in 1948. It became the company’s first car after the end of World War II.
Moreover, from 1949 to 1954, it was the only model of the brand. It was also the first Peugeot with a load-bearing all-metal body.
7. Ukrainian motorcycles from 1940 –1990
For the first time, an exhibition of motorcycles produced on the territory of modern Ukraine will be presented. One of these is the KMZ K-1B ‘Kiyanin’ from 1949. The production at the Kyiv motorcycle factory began with this light motorcycle. ‘Kiyanin’ was a copy of the German Wanderer SP1, parts of which were supplied by Germany as post-war reparations.
The ticket price is 150 UAH, and it can be purchased at the museum’s ticket office or online here: https://bit.ly/3oVqQud
