The Japanese have clearly broken the record for the number of new products presented simultaneously. And although in this case we are talking about concepts and prototypes, no one expected this number of premieres. In theory, 16 new electric vehicles (including a sports car, SUV, and pickup) will go into serial production in 2030. And it has also become known what fate awaits Lexus…

The first thing worth noting is the electrification of conceptual models. For a long time, Toyota claimed it was skeptical about the prospects of “electric trains” and believed more in hybrids and hydrogen cars. But apparently, even such an auto giant has looked at Tesla’s success and its stock price, deciding to “slightly” change its development vector… let’s say more, soon Lexus will become fully electric!

The plans were announced by the president of the automotive corporation, Akio Toyoda, reports CNBC.
“We expect that by 2030, the sales volume of our electric vehicles will reach 3.5 million units,” said Toyoda, indicating that by 2035, the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality of its enterprises. To implement global plans, Toyota is planning to increase investments in battery technologies up to 4.4 billion dollars. “In this diversified and uncharted era, it is important to flexibly change the types and quantities of products produced, while not forgetting about market trends”, said Toyoda.
After 2030, Toyota intends to increase the number of electric models to 30. These will include:
- An electric frame SUV with 3 rows of seats
- Electric compact crossovers
- Several electric sedans (it’s not hard to guess these will be like the Camry and Corolla)
- An electric analog of the Tundra pickup
- The FJ Cruiser SUV reborn as an electric vehicle
- Several electric sports and supercars
As for the Lexus brand, it is likely that the luxury sub-brand models will be solely electric, and the flagship of them will be a production model capable of traveling up to 700 kilometers on a single charge and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2 seconds!
