Toyota abandons the limited configuration of the 2025 Mirai and raises prices

  • Toyota improves its lineup of Mirai sedans and ceases production of the Limited configuration.
  • The model is now exclusively available in the XLE version, which has received new equipment.
  • The price has increased by $1,605 and is now $51,795, with buyers receiving $15,000 worth of hydrogen as a gift.

The Toyota Mirai has always been a subject of curiosity as a luxury sedan with a fuel cell. However, the car becomes slightly less elegant as the company decided to cease production of the elevated Limited modification for 2025.

Toyota did not explain the reasons for the change, but the model will now be available exclusively in the XLE version. However, this is not bad news, as the company decided to add some additional standard equipment to please customers.

Additionally:

Unfortunately, there is nothing particularly exciting to note, as the additional options include heated exterior mirrors, digital key technology, and a Panoramic Monitor. Additionally, customers will find illuminated front footwells, as well as an automatic braking system for front and rear parking.

Aside from the aforementioned, Mirai is equipped with LED lights and 19-inch alloy wheels. This is complemented by SofTex heated front seats, dual 12.3-inch displays, and a wireless smartphone charger.

The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 safety system package is standard and includes full-featured adaptive cruise control with a dynamic radar, lane-keeping assistant and lane departure warning with steering control. There is also a travel assistance system, traffic jam assistance, collision warning with pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

The Mirai model is based on the GA-L platform and has three hydrogen storage tanks, a fuel cell, a 1.24 kWh battery pack, and an electric motor with 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) driving the rear wheels. Thanks to this combination of science and magic, the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 9.2 seconds and travel from one refueling to the next for 402 miles (647 km) according to the EPA estimate.

The price starts at $51,795 plus $1,095 for delivery. This is an increase of $1,605, but it is mainly explained by the additional equipment.

Mirai is available exclusively in the XLE version, and buyers receive $15,000 for free hydrogen fuel. The model also comes with an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty on key fuel cell components, as well as “free medical services.” The latter provides owners with up to 21 days in a rental car, which can be used for traveling in areas where there is no hydrogen refueling infrastructure.
