Toyota Raises Prices Again, But Won’t State the Obvious

Rising Prices for Toyota and Lexus Cars

In July, Toyota and Lexus will increase prices for their cars by an average of $270 and $208, respectively. For example, the Toyota Camry has become $200 more expensive, and the hybrid Prius Prime — by $400. The company does not link this to tariffs, stating that it is part of a regular review of pricing policy.

However, other manufacturers, such as Ford, Subaru, Mitsubishi, and Ineos, have also raised prices this year. Although Toyota avoids mentioning tariffs, there is speculation that they are still influencing the situation. Previously, Walmart faced criticism for explaining price increases precisely by tariffs.

The latest price increase is part of our regular review of pricing policy.

The U.S. government has previously expressed dissatisfaction when companies openly linked price increases to tariffs. For example, when Amazon planned to show how much tariffs affect the cost of goods, the idea was called a “hostile and political move.”

The pricing policy of automakers remains unstable, and there is currently no reason to expect a decrease in cost. On the contrary, the trend of rising prices may continue, especially against the backdrop of changes in international trade and economic conditions. Some companies are trying to minimize the impact on the end consumer, but this is not always successful.
