Honda recall due to brake pedal issues
Honda has announced a recall of 259,000 vehicles due to a potential brake pedal malfunction. The issue concerns certain models from the 2021–2025 production years, specifically the Honda Pilot, Acura MDX, and TLX, which were manufactured using American components.
According to the report, the brake pedal may shift from its position, which complicates braking or, conversely, leads to accidental activation. So far, only two complaints have been registered, but the company is taking measures to eliminate the defect.
Cause of the defect
The problem arose due to insufficient training of workers at the American supplier’s plant. During the transition of production to Mexico, new employees did not secure the brake pedal pins properly. Furthermore, the quality control system was turned off due to technical malfunctions, which allowed defective parts to end up in finished vehicles.
Interestingly, after moving production to Mexico, the problem was identified and resolved—the plant now uses a camera to check assembly quality. Thus, Mexican components turned out to be more reliable than American ones.
Although no serious incidents due to this malfunction have been recorded so far, Honda recommends that owners contact official dealers for free repairs. The problem has only affected a specific batch of vehicles, so not all owners of these models have reason for concern.
