TRD Adds Even More Edge and Aggressiveness to the New RAV4 GR Sport

Toyota RAV4 GR Sport Gets More Aggressive Upgrades from TRD

The Toyota RAV4 has always been a practical crossover, but the new 2026 RAV4 GR Sport model radically changes this perception. The car combines a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain with a truly sporty design that matches the GR badge. This proves that a versatile SUV can have its own character.

Now, the Japanese TRD division is taking things to an even higher level, offering a series of visual and aerodynamic enhancements for the RAV4 GR Sport. Currently, these kits are only introduced for the Japanese market and are unlikely to be officially available in other regions.

Key upgrades from TRD include:

Detailing the Technical Improvements

TRD’s enhancements begin at the front, where the new spoiler not only makes the SUV more aggressive but also provides a moderate aerodynamic effect. Side window wind deflectors and door handle protective covers are also available.

Under the hood, engineers offer to install performance rear dampers designed to reduce noise and vibrations, as well as improve steering response. Another interesting development is the so-called door stabilizers, which add a brace around the lock. The idea is to improve steering feel by increasing body rigidity. The accessory catalog is completed by a carbon fiber license plate frame.

Alternative from Modellista

The appearance of TRD parts came shortly after Modellista introduced its own version for the new generation RAV4. As reported back in December, Modellista created two separate body kits: the Lifestyle Package and the Outdoor Package.

Modellista even developed so-called door stabilizers, which add a brace around the lock. The idea is to improve steering feel by increasing body rigidity.

The latter is specifically adapted for the Adventure grade, the Japanese equivalent of the American Woodland variant. If moderation is not for you, then Modellista’s changes go further than TRD’s. They include redesigned front and rear bumpers, new wheels, modified fenders, and updated lighting elements, giving the RAV4 a much more extroverted look.

Interestingly, such activity in the accessory market for one model indicates a shift in the RAV4’s positioning. Various paths for customization are emerging: from TRD’s sporty and aerodynamic improvements to bolder and more experimental solutions from Modellista. This gives owners a unique opportunity to tailor their car to personal preferences, which was previously not typical for this segment. Such initiatives could become a trend where manufacturers offer more freedom for personalization even for mass-market models, expanding their target audience.
