Thai workshop transforms Toyota Hilux into a Tundra copy
An unusual tuning project has appeared in Thailand: the Icon Cars workshop has transformed the compact Toyota Hilux pickup into a full-size Tundra. The main changes affected the exterior:
Technical features of the conversion
The conversion kit is suitable for the seventh and eighth generation Hilux, produced after 2012. Although the pickup resembles the Tundra externally, its dimensions remain smaller – the length is about 5.3 meters compared to 6.4 meters for the full-size model.
Icon Cars reported that the cost of the kit starts from 350,000 Thai baht (about $10,700), excluding additional equipment
Under the hood remains the standard 2.8-liter turbo diesel, which is significantly inferior in power to the engines of the original Tundra. However, the pickup received a suspension with increased ground clearance to improve off-road qualities.
Similar projects have appeared before, but the Thai version is distinguished by more thorough detailing. It is worth considering that the Tundra is not officially sold in Asia, which makes such conversions particularly attractive for local car enthusiasts. For comparison, a new Hilux in Thailand costs from 584,000 to 1,509,000 baht, so the conversion looks like an interesting alternative for those who want to stand out on the road.
