Toyota RAV4 is Again the World Sales Leader
In 2024, the Toyota RAV4 regained its title as the world’s best-selling car, narrowly surpassing the Tesla Model Y. According to analysts, the RAV4 and its Chinese counterpart, the Wildlander, together sold 1.187 million units, while the Model Y sold 1.185 million. This highlights the fierce competition between traditional automakers and electric vehicle brands.

The only Chinese representative in the top 10 was the BYD Qin, with 502 thousand cars sold, indicating the strengthening of China’s position in the global market.
Interestingly, even the outdated Hilux model, which is not sold in North America or China, became the world’s most popular pickup truck, even surpassing the iconic Ford F-150. This shows that the demand for reliable commercial vehicles remains high even in the era of the electric vehicle revolution.
