Lexus Introduces Special LC500 Pinnacle Version for the Japanese Market
Lexus has introduced a new special version of its flagship coupe and convertible, the LC500 Pinnacle, which may become the last modification of this model. The publication notes that this version could be a farewell gesture ahead of an expected model range update.
The model, which was first shown back in 2012 as a concept and entered production in 2016, received an exclusive execution for the Japanese market. The company describes the Pinnacle as the pinnacle of this series’ development.
Design and Features
The exterior of the Pinnacle resembles the American Inspiration Series version, but with important differences. Both body variants – the coupe and the convertible – received a carbon spoiler, which was previously only available for the coupe. The color solutions are also unique: the coupe is offered in matte Oborogin, and the convertible in Neutrino Gray with a brown-silver soft top.
Both variants are equipped with 21-inch forged wheels with a black coating, giving the car a refined yet expressive look
Technical Specifications
Under the hood remains the familiar 5.0-liter V8 with 471 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Engineers added a specially tuned limited-slip differential to improve handling.
The chassis also received updates: the coupe is equipped with a new aluminum suspension to increase rigidity, while the convertible is tuned for a more comfortable ride.
Production of the LC500 Pinnacle is limited to 100 units of each body type, with half to be allocated to buyers through a lottery. The price starts from ¥17,800,000 (approximately $121,500).
Regular versions of the LC for the Japanese market remain unchanged in design but receive new door stickers to “enhance the feeling of rigidity.” The cost of base models ranges from ¥14,100,000 to ¥15,380,000 ($96,200-105,000).
This launch of a special version occurs against the backdrop of the gradual disappearance of large naturally aspirated engines from the market. Lexus continues to support traditional technologies while adapting to global trends, which is particularly noticeable in the different offerings for different markets.
