Unlocking the ECU for Mustang and Other Ford Models
HP Tuners has made a breakthrough in the Ford automotive tuning scene by cracking the protection of the engine control unit (ECU) for the S650 Mustang model. This opens up the possibility for professionals to adjust engine parameters and increase power. Previously, Ford had locked access to the ECU, which limited upgrade possibilities.
Now tuners can work with key parameters, allowing owners of Mustang and other Ford models to gain more power without the need to install third-party control units. This applies not only to the Mustang but also to models such as the Bronco, Raptor R, Expedition, and others.

One tuning atelier, Palm Beach Dyno, has already tested the new capabilities. On the example of a modified Mustang, they managed to gain an additional 30 hp and 20 lb-ft of torque. This indicates significant potential for future upgrades.
Owners can now utilize remote tuning, which allows them to configure their car without a visit to the workshop.
For remote tuning, special equipment will be needed, such as the MPV12 or RTD 4 from HP Tuners. This can be an option for those who do not have the opportunity to visit specialized services.
This move by HP Tuners significantly expands opportunities for car enthusiasts who want to improve their vehicle’s performance. Given the popularity of the Mustang and other Ford models, we can expect a growing interest in tuning in the coming months. This is especially relevant for owners who previously faced limitations due to the closed ECU architecture.
