The year 2025 is coming to an end, giving us a great opportunity to look back and summarize twelve months in the automotive market. This period was extremely eventful: manufacturers presented everything from affordable electric vehicles to true monsters with over a thousand horsepower.
Among the key events of the year, the following can be highlighted:
American Automotive News: Electrification and Powerful Engines
The choice for car enthusiasts in 2025 was enormous. Chevrolet not only brought back the improved Bolt model but also stunned the public with the Corvette ZR1X featuring a 1250-horsepower engine. Cadillac, in turn, significantly expanded its electric lineup, adding the Escalade IQL, Optiq-V, and Lyriq-V models.
Are we entering a new era of “badge engineering”?
While Ford and Lincoln did not have loud premieres, Stellantis made a bold move by bringing back the Hemi engine for the 2026 model year Ram 1500 pickup. The company also showed the new Jeep Cherokee and Recon, as well as the updated Grand Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer. In the supercar segment, the MCPura model appeared, positioned as the successor to the MC20, although, in essence, it is a light facelift of it.
Japanese Brands: Updates and New Developments
Among foreign brands, Honda introduced the new generation of the iconic Prelude and the updated Pilot. The CR-V TrailSport version also appeared, although it turned out to be less “off-road” than its name might suggest.
Nissan gifted the world with a crossover version of the Leaf and a significantly improved Sentra. Furthermore, the company showed the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid, the modernized Pathfinder, and the all-new Micra for the European market.
Toyota and Subaru actively worked on joint electric vehicles, presenting the C-HR / Uncharted and Trailseeker / bZ Touring models. Lexus, as Toyota’s luxury division, updated the electric crossover RZ and the ES sedan, and also presented the facelifted IS, albeit without the legendary V8 under the hood.
European Premieres and Overall Impressions
Other important debuts of the year include the Audi Q3, Aston Martin Vantage S, and Mazda CX-5. The public also saw the new BMW iX3 and the fiery M2 CS, as well as the updated Mercedes-Benz CLA, GLB, and GLC EQ.
This is just a small part of all the novelties that enriched the automotive world over the past year. The diversity was impressive: from practical family crossovers and affordable electric vehicles designed to make “green” transport mainstream, to high-tech sports cars showcasing the pinnacle of engineering thought. Such activity by manufacturers indicates deep transformations in the industry, where different trends are developing in parallel — electrification on one hand, and the refinement of traditional powerful engines on the other. It is also worth noting separately the increase in the number of joint developments and platforms, which allows brands to fill various market niches faster, sometimes sacrificing the individuality of individual models.
