Sedan’s Return
Ford’s North American lineup has not had sedans since 2019, when the last Taurus rolled off the assembly line in Chicago. However, the name did not disappear completely. While Ford abandoned sedans in North America, they continued to exist in other markets.
After introducing the Mondeo for the Chinese market in 2022, Ford renamed this sedan to Taurus for the Middle East, where it is now preparing for an update.
Exterior Changes
The 2026 model is presented in two official teasers that show noticeable visual updates. The car has received new headlights with modern LED elements, giving it a resemblance to the four-door Mustang.

The light units frame a wider radiator grille, combined with a more sporty lower bumper. Although the side profile remains hidden, the changes are likely limited to updated wheel disks and additional body colors.
The rear has received redesigned LED taillights and a modified bumper with black inserts and a body-colored diffuser.
The badge on the rear doors indicates that this is the top Titanium trim, not the sporty ST-Line, which is already offered in China but is not yet available in the Middle East.

Interior Updates
The updates will also affect the interior, where a redesigned center console and new trim options will appear. The current model already has an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch multimedia system screen, so the updates will focus on materials and layout rather than hardware changes.
Technical Features
The powertrains are likely to remain unchanged. The 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine produces 239 horsepower, while the hybrid 1.5-liter variant develops 185 horsepower thanks to the combination of an engine and an electric motor. Both variants have front-wheel drive but use different transmissions: the gasoline version uses an eight-speed automatic, and the hybrid uses a continuously variable transmission.
Details about the updated Taurus will become known closer to its launch in the Middle Eastern markets next year. The Chinese Ford Mondeo is also expected to receive similar updates, indicating a synchronized evolution of Ford sedans on a global scale.
Current Model
The current Ford Taurus in the Middle East continues to be in demand, despite the general trend of decreasing popularity of sedans. Its market position is reinforced by comfort, space, and technological features that make it attractive for family use. The 2026 update is expected to enhance these advantages, making the model even more competitive in its segment.
