by BMW 7-Series Update Ahead of Premiere
BMW is preparing to present the updated 7 Series at the auto show in China as early as next month. The brand recently released the first teasers of its flagship sedan, confirming that it will receive some technologies from the Neue Klasse concept. Following this, several images allegedly showing the car appeared online.
Although in the age of artificial intelligence one should be skeptical of such images, they look increasingly plausible when compared to spy photos of less camouflaged prototypes. As can be seen, the luxury sedan will receive a completely new front end with an updated radiator grille, where vertical lines are replaced by horizontal ones.
A report on the information leak from BMW reveals two very different future paths for the X5 redesign and the 7 Series update.
Design and Exterior Changes
The thin daytime running lights look familiar, but now they are wider and seem to have updated graphics. More significant is the appearance of smaller, square headlights integrated into an aggressive air intake. This gives the 7 Series a sportier and more expressive look.
The central air intake has also been updated: it has a shorter horizontal bar and a new outer trapezoidal shape. They are complemented by a flatter and more pronounced splitter.
Moving further, more streamlined side sills can be noticed. There seem to be no other changes, but it would not be surprising to see updated wheel designs.
The rear remains quite evolutionary, but it has bulky camouflage hiding the shape of the redesigned bumper. New taillight graphics can also be discerned, where the red and clear segments have essentially swapped places.
Interior and Technology Updates
The interior of the 7 Series has always been extremely cautious of camera lenses, but spy photographers have managed to catch a glimpse of the updated interior section. It is covered with black fabric, but it’s impossible to hide the new panoramic iDrive display stretching from pillar to pillar and located at the base of the windshield.
This is not the only change. We can make out a new infotainment system, presumably with a 17.9-inch diagonal. More features are not visible, but these changes will require a new dashboard and a redesigned steering wheel.
Expected Powertrain Updates
A whole range of updated powertrains is expected, including a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that could develop 400 hp and 542 Nm of torque. Furthermore, the fully electric i7 is rumored to receive a new battery pack, and its arrival may be accompanied by the appearance of more efficient electric motors.

The premiere of the updated sedan will take place in a key region for the brand, highlighting the importance of the Chinese market for luxury model sales. The implementation of Neue Klasse technologies likely concerns not only displays but also a new electric powertrain architecture, which could significantly improve the efficiency and range of the i7. The design changes, particularly the new radiator grille and headlights, continue the brand’s trend towards bolder and more expressive solutions aimed at attracting a new generation of buyers. The success of this model will be critically important for BMW in the competitive battle with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8, especially in the electric sedan segment.
