After its presentation in Shanghai, the electric Audi E5 Sportback is attracting a lot of attention, but not as expected. The tiny trunk under the hood has become the subject of jokes online.
This model, which will arrive on the Chinese market in the summer, will offer up to 776 horsepower. However, it is its front cargo compartment that is causing the most discussion.
Opening the hood reveals a large plastic panel with a small carpeted compartment in the middle. Its size is approximately that of a shoebox, which has caused a wave of irony on social media.
Despite this, the E5 Sportback has a number of interesting features. The model, which is 4881 mm long, is equipped with an LED grille with over 1000 individual lights, digital mirrors, and frameless doors.
The interior is adorned with a 59-inch display spanning the entire panel, a Bose sound system, a 50-watt wireless charger, and an electrochromic panoramic sunroof. Chestnut wood veneer, an aroma diffuser, and artificial intelligence for management are also offered.
The car will be offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions with power ranging from 295 to 776 hp. The most powerful modification will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
The 100 kWh battery provides a range of up to 770 km. Fast charging allows for recovering 370 km of range in just 10 minutes.
The driver assistance system includes a lidar on the roof, 3 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 cameras, and multimodal sensors for comfortable control.
