In Spain, a Mercedes-Benz W123 from 1986 is in operation with a record mileage. The car has already covered 7 million kilometers. It was reported by Focus. This Mercedes 240D W123 in the extended (6.1 m) seven-seater Lang version works in one of the taxi services on the island of Gran Canaria. Its owner Domingo bought the car second-hand in 1988. As the Canary Islands are a tourist region, Domingo has enough clients. On average, he travels 700 km per day. In this mode, the oil in the Mercedes 240D is changed 52 times a year, that is, once a week (every 5000 km). Domingo takes care of his car and regularly services it, although once he had to replace the 2.4-liter 72-horsepower diesel engine. Domingo and his Mercedes W123 have already become a local legend – the Spaniard even managed to create his own taxi service. Over 35 years, they have traveled a distance equivalent to 175 circumnavigations. In 2008, Domingo set out to restore the Mercedes 240D and pass on the business to his son. At that time, the car had covered 3.8 million kilometers. During the restoration, parts from a newer Mercedes W124 were used. In addition, the body was reinforced and the interior was modernized. By the way, the Guinness Book of Records currently includes Volvo P1800 with a mileage of 5.15 million km. However, it is worth noting that this car is completely original and without parts from other models.
