A replica of the classic Porsche 356A 1600 Super Speedster by Reutter sports car, created in the style of 1955–1957 models, was shown in the capital of Ukraine. The car was photographed at Kyiv Car Fest, and the project itself is built on the basis of a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle. The photos were published on the Instagram account @t.o.p.c.a.r.s_u.a.
The car received a body in the style of early Porsche 356A Speedster series T1. The publication notes that the license plate is assigned to a Volkswagen Beetle body with VIN code 1112931298. The photos also show the model’s characteristic features: a low windshield, rounded fenders, and a compact open body.
Porsche 356A Speedster by Reutter is connected to the history of RECARO
The name RECARO comes from the abbreviation REutter-CAROsserie. The company was founded by Wilhelm Reutter in Stuttgart on October 1, 1906, under the name Stuttgarter Carosserie und Radfabrik. Later, his brother Albert Reutter joined the business, after which the enterprise was renamed Stuttgarter Karosseriewerk Reutter & Co.
In 1930, the company began collaborating with the Porsche design bureau. From 1931, Reutter manufactured bodies for the first Porsche prototypes, and in 1949, the company began producing bodies for the Porsche 356 sports car.
Porsche 356A 1600 Super became the foundation for the future RECARO brand
In 1953, Reutter patented a mechanism for adjusting seat backrests. After producing the 10,000th Porsche body in 1956, the company continued to expand production.
In 1963, the automotive division of Reutter was acquired by Porsche. After that, the company was renamed RECARO, and its main focus became the production of premium-class car seats.
