The creation of an ethnic Ukrainian was put up for sale at the RM Sotheby’s auction, namely the 1934 Packard Twelve Sport Coupe. Its design was developed by stylist of Ukrainian descent, Count Oleksii Sakhnovsky.

On his maternal side, he was a descendant of the famous sugar magnate and philanthropist Artem Tereshchenko, and on his paternal side – of Mykola Gogol and Hetman Pavlo Polubotok. After the 1917 revolution, Sakhnovsky emigrated to Europe, then to America and took up car design. His works had a non-standard look and were ahead of their time.

The first owner of the Packard Twelve was millionaire Brayburn, who owned steel mills in Pennsylvania. The car changed hands several times, underwent restoration in the ’80s, and won prizes at several retro shows. Since then, the car has been almost never displayed to the public.
