An Old-Timer Grandfather Turned Out to Have Unique Supercars from the Early 2000s

Sometimes garages hide real treasures. This is exactly what happened in Newport Beach, California, where an 88-year-old collector decided to part with a portion of his private collection. Three iconic cars from the early 2000s, which look as if they just drove out of a showroom, were put up for sale at once.

The lucky ones were a Ferrari 550 Maranello, a BMW M5 (E39), and a Ford GT — cars that in their time set the tone in the world of sports cars. All of them have been preserved in almost pristine condition, as they had practically not been driven on the roads for years. The Canadian dealer Silver Arrow Cars acted as the intermediary in the sale of these rare specimens.

Ferrari 550 Maranello (2000)
The coupe in a rare Nart Blue shade with a light brown leather interior stood under a cover of dust for a quarter of a century. The odometer shows only 908 km, so essentially, we are looking at a new car. After a delicate polish, the body is shining again, and the legendary naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V12 with 485 hp (357 kW) is waiting to be awakened. Soon the car will be sent to its new owner in New York.

BMW M5 E39 (2002)
For many fans, this sedan still remains the benchmark. The single owner barely used it — the mileage is only 6,838 km. A black body, a black interior with wood trim, and, most importantly, a 4.9-liter V8 with 400 hp (294 kW) paired with a classic six-speed manual transmission make this M5 a true dream car. The car has already found a buyer in Colorado.

Ford GT (2006)
A true icon, created to commemorate Ford’s victories at Le Mans. This specimen with red paint and white stripes wasn’t even registered and has a mileage of only 1159 km. The interior retains the original showroom atmosphere, and under the hood is a 5.4-liter V8 with 558 hp (410 kW) mated to a six-speed Ricardo manual transmission.

And this is only a part of the private collection. The garage still holds no less interesting models: a 1973 De Tomaso Pantera, several Corvettes from different generations, a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, a Plymouth Prowler, a Viper GTS, a Ram SRT-10, and even an exotic Bricklin SV-1.
