In Turkey, a unique vehicle called the Cataravan 6990 Optimum has been created, combining a wheeled house and a boat. The author of this unusual hybrid is Orhan Erdem — a self-taught craftsman from the city of Düzce, who assembled the machine by hand, capable of moving both on land and water.

Externally, it resembles an ordinary camper, but the hull is designed like a boat. Thanks to a sealed bottom and installed propellers, this little house can not only drive on roads but also sail on rivers and lakes. The transition from asphalt to water happens without any modifications — just drive to the shore.

Inside, it is a full-fledged living space: a sleeping area, a mini-kitchen, a bathroom, and storage for belongings. The developer took care of both comfort and functionality, as the idea was to travel without restrictions and have everything necessary at hand.

Orhan Erdem himself noted that he had long dreamed of freedom of movement — without being tied to hotels, schedules, or routes. And now this dream has been realized in metal and fiberglass. Tourists and potential buyers have already shown interest in his creation, although for now, it remains an individual project.

They say that with this, you can even cross the Tisa River if you know where to go. And if you paint it a bit and stick a sign “Route No. 78 Uzhhorod — Vienna,” it could fit a whole shift of draft dodgers with backpacks. Complete autonomy: there’s a place to have dinner and hide from border guards too.
