On the anniversary age of the largest steel arch bridge’s birth – 93 years

On this day, March 19, 1932, the Sydney Harbor Bridge was opened. Today, along with the Sydney Opera House, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. This bridge is the tallest steel arch bridge in the world, with a height from the top to the water level of 134 meters. Until 2006, it was also considered the widest bridge on the planet, with a width of 48.8 meters.

The total length of the bridge is 1149 meters, making it the tenth in this characteristic among all arch bridges in the world. The metal structure alone weighs no less than 58,800 tons, connected with the help of six million (!) rivets.
