A project has started in Ukraine to create a mass-market electric car. The new model promises to be quite affordable: developers cite a price range from 9 to 12 thousand dollars.
The electric car is named quite unconventionally – “Porto-Franco 42.” As is known, Porto Franco translates to “free port,” and 42 represents the population of Ukraine in millions. Project coordinator Yaroslav Paschenko stated that the “Porto-Franco 42” is a C-class model with a length of 4.5 m, a width of 1.8 m, and a height of 1.55 m. The ground clearance will be 165 mm.
Several types of body styles are planned, but only sedan sketches created by designer Roman Pryadko have been presented so far. The design turned out to be quite pleasant and dynamic. It is reported that the Ukrainian electric car will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds. The “Porto-Franco 42” is positioned as a family model with a youthful edge and sporty notes.
The developers assure that production will begin only after the quality and safety are brought up to global standards.
Currently, negotiations with investors are ongoing, with 25% of the raised funds intended for social causes. Additionally, the project has an educational aim – planning a network of clubs and laboratories in schools and universities.
