Ukraine may be provided with British armored vehicles

A Jackal Armoured Vehicle is put through it's paces at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. The Jackal is a highly manoeuvreable Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit (MWMIK) vehicle that dramatically improves upon the adapted Land Rover WMIK previously used in theatre.

The United Kingdom is considering transferring heavy armored vehicles to Ukraine. According to the Times, these are either the three-axle Mastiff or the two-axle Jackal.

The equipment is planned to be delivered to one of Ukraine’s neighboring countries. Trainers will arrive with it to train Ukrainian crews.

The Mastiff armored vehicle is a British licensed variant of the American Cougar 6X6. It weighs 22.7 tons and can carry nearly 6 tons of cargo. The truck is equipped with a 330-horsepower Cummins turbo diesel engine, allowing it to reach 105 km/h.

The armor protects against machine gun fire from 12.7 mm caliber. A turret is mounted on the roof, on which a machine gun can be installed.

The Jackal is lighter, weighing 6.6 tons and featuring composite armor. It is equipped with a 12.7 mm machine gun. A 5.9-liter 185-horsepower turbo diesel engine allows it to reach 130 km/h.
