Just yesterday we published the first photos of the fastest electric bike in the world, created in Ukraine. But today, TopGir editors learned that Sergiy Malik was involved in an accident while trying to set a new speed record on it in the American Bonneville.
It is known that the Ukrainian record holder fell from The Spirit of Ukraine motorcycle at high speed. The conditions for the race on the bottom of the dried salt lake that day turned out to be very unfavorable – the salt was wet. Let us remind you that Sergei Malik’s task was to exceed 346 km/h, which is the current record.
Fortunately, Sergei is alive. How serious his injuries are is still unknown. Just as there is no information about the damage the motorcycle sustained. There are no photos or videos from the scene of the accident, as the organizers prohibited shooting.
The racer himself described the incident: “I couldn’t not go.
Many refused to go. I took my chance… The salt is very bad. It was impossible to ride. It was impossible not to ride.”
We wish Sergei Malik a speedy recovery and still hope that in the future he will be able to break another speed record.
Remember, in previous years, the Ukrainian triumphed twice in Bonneville. The racer is expected to return to Ukraine on August 21-22.
