by An interesting incident occurred recently in Kyiv. A woman discovered an exact clone of her car, reports dtp.kiev.ua. 
A Kyiv resident parked her Smart in the city center and went for a walk. Imagine her surprise when she saw her car in a completely different place on Khreshchatyk. It turned out to be a car doppelgänger.
It had the same black color and the same license plates. The woman called the police, and it turned out that the vehicle registration was also a match, and issued in her name. It was discovered that the car’s number was not a fake but an officially issued duplicate. Moreover, both Smart cars were insured by the same company and under the same name. Later, it was established that the VIN number of the doppelgänger was altered.
Now the car is confiscated, and the owner of the clone may face liability if he cannot prove that he acquired the Smart, for instance, by power of attorney with such documents.
