Ukrainian Developers of the Storm All-terrain Vehicle Presented an Underwater Drone-submarine

At an international exhibition in the United Arab Emirates, Ukrainians showcased a prototype underwater drone-submarine named Kronos. This unique vessel has been developed to ensure the security of our water resources and effectively combat illegal fishing.

According to the manufacturer, Kronos is a fully autonomous submarine capable of operating at depths of up to 300 meters. The submarine is equipped with artificial intelligence systems that allow it to make decisions and perform tasks independently.

Kronos has a range of features that allow it to perform various tasks. In particular, it can survey the seabed, detect fish and other objects in the water, as well as monitor prohibited fishing and illegal ship movements. Kronos is equipped with wireless communication, allowing the operator to control the submarine remotely.

The submarine is capable of carrying up to 10 landing troops or 3 tons of cargo. If needed, it can be remotely operated with a range of up to 250 km. Otherwise, its crew consists of only one person. It is armed with six Black Scorpion torpedoes from the Italian company Leonardo. The 127 mm caliber torpedo is 1.1 m long, weighs about 20 kg, and can hit targets at distances of up to 3 km.

One of the most important aspects of the Kronos development is its environmental safety. The submarine operates on batteries and has a minimal impact on the environment. Additionally, it is equipped with systems that can detect and avoid collisions with marine life.

According to the developers, Kronos can be used in various sectors where ensuring the safety of water resources is essential. Notably, the innovative submarine Kronos was developed by a Ukrainian team from the company Highland Systems, which in 2021 impressed visitors at the IDEX exhibition with the Storm hybrid-powered all-terrain vehicle.
