Yes, yes, in the 70s, the Italians not only helped build the VAZ factory but also cooperated with GAZ. They created a luxurious version of the Volga. The story of the unusual car was told by the former head of the GAZ passenger car division, Vladimir Nosakov.
It turns out that initially, the Volga was supposed to have a more expensive version, the GAZ-24-14 with a V6. 
However, the Soviet six-cylinder was unsuccessful, and that’s when the Italians took action. In Turin, the GAZ delegation was shown a Volga with a 2.8-liter 160-horsepower V6 from the Fiat-130. 
The new engine required modifications to the chassis. In addition, the Italian Volga received headlights from the same Fiat-130, and the interior was made more luxurious.
However, the car never went into series production.
