We are used to seeing rusty Volgas or Moskvitches in our yards. This doesn’t surprise anyone, but in the USA, you can find much more interesting abandoned cars – such as the rare prototype Shelby GT500 EXP nicknamed Little Red.
This seriously modified 1968 Ford Mustang was found in the yard of a private house in rural Texas. The car stood in the open air for at least 20 years, and thus is not in the best condition.
For a long time, the Shelby GT500 EXP was considered destroyed, so this find is a real stroke of luck. In 1968, Carroll Shelby created only two such prototypes.
The cars were equipped with a 7.0-liter V8 with two four-barrel carburetors and a supercharger, with a power output of about 450-475 hp. In addition, the experimental Ford Mustang received an independent rear suspension and disc brakes on all wheels.
The restoration of the car will be conducted via crowdsourcing, allowing all interested parties to participate. By the way, the price of the Ford Mustang after restoration will be astronomical. In 2013, a similar car was sold for $1.8 million.
