“Leningrad” was created by talented designer Arkady Babich, reports Carakoom. The American-style roadster was built on ZIM units. In particular, it borrowed a 3.5-liter 90-horsepower six-cylinder engine.

The maximum speed of the light sports car was 180 km/h. In 1959, Arkady Babich made a trip from Simferopol to Leningrad: he covered 2125 km in 20 hours, which means an average speed of 106 km/h. http://carakoom.com/blog/v-latvii-vosstanovili-sovetskij-samodelnyj-rodster-leningrad-po-cvetnomu-snimku

Since then, nothing was heard about the car. In 2014, the car was found in a deplorable state. The body was rusted, and many parts were missing.

However, the rare car was bought for a considerable amount of money. http://carakoom.com/blog/v-latvii-vosstanovili-sovetskij-samodelnyj-rodster-leningrad-po-cvetnomu-snimku

Since there was no documentation left for the car, the restoration used the only color photo of the roadster, taken by American photographer John Schultz in 1958 in Leningrad.
