Everyone knows that the Mercedes-Benz 190 is a sedan and the most affordable model of the German brand in the 80s. However, it turns out there was a hatchback version of it, and it was even produced in small series.
The Mercedes 190 hatchback was created in 1990 by the Schulz-Tuning studio. Interestingly, there were three-door and five-door versions. The cars had their rear part cut off and the taillights and trunk door from the larger Mercedes 124 installed.
The car was called the Mercedes 190E 2.6 City. It was only equipped with a 2.6-liter inline-six with 160 hp. The exact number of cars produced is unknown, but by 1991 production of the hatchbacks had stopped.
