The Singaporean company Vanda Electrics is preparing to launch a small-scale production of the electric hypercar Dendrobium D-1. Recall, its prototype was shown last year at the Geneva Motor Show. The production of the electric car is planned in the United Kingdom.
The production model will debut on August 30 and will differ slightly in design from the concept car. However, the unusual upward-opening doors will remain. The car is based on a carbon monocoque, and modern lightweight alloys are also used in the construction. The mass of the Dendrobium D-1 will be 1750 kg.
The interior resembles the cockpit of a spaceship from a science fiction movie. The trim is dominated by bare carbon, and the driver’s and passenger’s seats are painted in different colors.
The total power of the electric motors will increase to 1800 hp (the prototype had 1500), and the maximum torque will be 2000 N∙m. It is expected that the electric hypercar will be able to accelerate to a hundred in less than 2.5 seconds, and its maximum speed will exceed 320 km/h.
