The so-called time machine was photographed near Bukovel. There are only two such cars in Ukraine. One DeLorean DMC-12 belongs to the mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov, and this particular specimen is “registered” in Chernivtsi.
“Registered” in quotes because the car is not cleared and has Bulgarian registration, this specimen was brought to Ukraine in the spring of 2021. Filatov, let us recall, has a DeLorean sports car registered in Ukraine.
As TopGir already wrote, the history of the DeLorean DMC-12 states that it was produced in Northern Ireland for the American car company DeLorean Motor Company from 1981 to 1983.
About 9,000 cars were produced in total, but not all of them have survived to this day. The engine is a 6-cylinder with a volume of 3 liters and a power of 150 hp. The gearbox is a 5-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic.
The company might have continued producing one of the most unusual cars of that time, but in 1982, John DeLorean, the founder of the company, was arrested, accused of drug trafficking. Later, the court acquitted John, but while he “served time,” the DMC plant in Northern Ireland went bankrupt.
