Last weekend, a rare sports car flipped and caught fire on the Chayka track. It is an open version of the Fiat 124 Spider. According to our source, this is also a tuned version from the Abarth tuning studio.

According to witnesses, the Fiat owner was overtaking on the ‘dirty path’ outside in a turn, lost control and flipped over.

As seen in the second photo, the car caught fire as a result of the accident. Fortunately, the driver was not injured, but the convertible, rare for our region, will likely be extremely difficult and expensive to restore.

Recall, the Fiat 124 Spider is the ‘cousin’ of the Mazda MX-5. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2015 as a 2016 model. In 2019, it was announced that production for the European market would end. However, production for the Asia-Pacific and North American markets continued until 2020, when the Fiat 124 Spider was finally discontinued. Despite the Italian ‘roots’ of the model, the 124 was produced at the Mazda plant in Hiroshima.
