A unique ‘time capsule’ was discovered in Ukraine – a pre-war era Opel P4. The rarity had been stored for decades in a garage near Kyiv and has survived to this day almost completely in its original form.

The media reported about the unusual find back in July, but details have now become known. It turned out that the car had been idle since 1953, and not in some warm ventilated room, but in an ordinary wooden barn in Irpin (Kyiv region).
Initially, the three-door vehicle was brought from defeated Germany (as a trophy) to the Leningrad region of the RSFSR, and later it ended up in Ukraine, where it remained unattended for a long time. The old car even retained its first post-war Soviet license plates – yellow in color, which were issued in 1946-1959.

It is known that the Opel was produced in 1935. Its value lies in its condition. The car is almost 100% complete, and moreover, it has retained the vast majority of its native original parts and components – engine, gearbox, chassis. Judging by the photos, the body is also ‘alive’. And the most impressive is that despite its age and difficult fate, the car is drivable.
It should be noted that the Opel P4 was produced from 1934 to 1937, with a production run of 66,000 units. Under the hood of the car is a 1.1-liter ‘four’ engine with 23 hp, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.
