A resident of Oregon put up for sale cars from the USSR era. In particular, on eBay, he posted ads for the sale of several Ladas, two Volgas, and a Moskvich. The cost of the cars ranges from $11,000 to $23,000!
And as you can understand, for 15-20 thousand in the States, you can buy a very decent car. For example, a slightly used Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, etc. Speaking of new ones, in America, for $20,000, you can buy a Kia Soul or even a Ford Escape. However, what is commonplace for us is exotic in the USA.
Therefore, the seller of Soviet auto classics was not particularly modest and requested quite hefty sums. The cars were imported from Ukraine, Hungary, Germany, and Russia. It must be admitted that they all have very low mileage and are in excellent condition, except for non-original wheels (almost all cars).
- VAZ-2107, 1988. Original paint, 20,000 km mileage. Price – 11,000 dollars. Imported from Hungary.
- VAZ-2106, 1989. 21,000 km mileage. Price – 14,000 dollars. Bought in Ukraine. Whether it was “customized” there is unknown.
- Another VAZ-2106, 1986. Its mileage is only 5,000 kilometers. Price – $17,000. Imported from Germany.
- GAZ-24-10, 1989. Imported from Ukraine. Mileage – 25,000 km. Price – 17,000 dollars.
- Another Volga 24 with 6,700 kilometers mileage. Imported to the USA from Russia. Price – 23,000 dollars. Interestingly, the wheels on it are from a Mustang..?
- Moskvich-2141, 1991. Mileage – 17,000 kilometers. Imported from Ukraine. Price – 15,000 dollars.
Across the ocean, Soviet cars can indeed be worth a lot of money, especially when they are in good, collectible condition. For example, we wrote about how in the USA a hunchbacked Zaporozhets is being sold for $15,000, and the most inventive ones even get crafty. One of such sellers, when selling an “eared” Zaporozhets, claimed it was Putin’s first car.
By the way, did you know that in the USSR era, a Zaporozhets cost as much as a Ford Mustang? Moreover, other Soviet cars at that time were equivalent to sports and luxury overseas models when converted into dollars!
