The rarest diesel VAZ nine discovered in Ukraine

Not everyone knows that at one time VAZ-2109 was equipped with diesel engines. One of these cars has been driving around Ukraine for 20 years and its owner detailed it on DRIVE2. The rarest diesel VAZ nine discovered in Ukraine

Lada Samara GLX Diesel was produced in 1995-1997 exclusively for the European market. Diesel VAZ-2109 were sold in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, thus they are a rarity in our region.

Under the hood hides a 1.5-liter TUD5 diesel engine, which was once installed on the Peugeot 106 and Citroen Saxo.

The engine develops only 58 hp but is economical – consuming 5-6 liters per 100 km. The hatchback also has a different radiator, and the expansion tank is relocated behind the engine shield.

The diesel Lada Samara featured body kits, but they are almost not preserved on this car. Therefore, the Lada Samara GLX Diesel is almost indistinguishable from the gasoline version. Inside, however, there is an indicator of the glow plugs heating.
