A Unique KGB Volga Discovered in Ukraine en

In Yalta, a worn-out 1990 Volga has been put up for sale. Surprisingly, the rusted sedan with 200,000 km mileage is priced at 43,000 dollars.

The thing is, this is not an ordinary Volga, but a GAZ-24-34, a KGB pursuit car. Under its hood is a 5.5-liter, 195-horsepower V8 from Chaika, paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. It turned into a sort of Soviet muscle car, capable of reaching 182 km/h.

The KGB Volga received power steering and an upgraded suspension. It was equipped with a radio, a siren, and other special equipment.

Like all pursuit cars, the vehicle outwardly does not differ from a regular GAZ-24-10. Even the third pedal and the gear lever from a manual transmission were left in the cabin – so that no one would guess it’s a KGB Volga.

This specific car spent its whole life in Crimea – it was initially registered with the KGB, and then on the balance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 2003, it was decommissioned and sold to a private individual.

Only 245 GAZ-24-34s were produced. By the way, there is an older KGB pursuit car based on the Volga GAZ-21 in Kyiv.
