In Ukraine, it was allowed to drive on a yellow traffic light signal

The Supreme Court of Ukraine by its decision has effectively allowed drivers to drive on a yellow light. This was reported on the page of “Road Lawyer” on Facebook. In Ukraine, it was allowed to drive on a yellow traffic light signal

The decision on case No.751/4088/17 was made by the Supreme Court on July 26. The driver, who drove on a yellow traffic light signal, had his fine of 425 hryvnias canceled. The details of the case are also known.

The police stopped the car for driving on a yellow light. The driver stated that he entered the intersection on a blinking green and upon the yellow turning on, he was forced to continue driving as required by the rule 16.8 of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine. Nevertheless, the police still issued a fine for driving on a yellow light and the driver decided to challenge it in court. He explained that he could not stop the car before the stop line without emergency braking, and therefore continued to drive on the yellow light while maintaining traffic safety. The Supreme Court ruled that the driver complied with the traffic rules and had to continue driving at the intersection to avoid creating an emergency situation.

So the fine was canceled, and the National Police inspector may be held accountable for unlawful actions.
