Created by Ukrainians, the company Pulsar Expo has developed a prototype of an off-road bus, the Torsus Praetorian. It has already attracted international market interest, and several countries are ready to place orders.
Pulsar Expo was founded in 2014 by the spouses Vakhtang Dzhiukashvili and Yulia Khomyich. The company dealt with the supply of special vehicles, with clients including the UN and the US government.
There is huge demand from customers for vehicles for heavy off-road conditions.
However, a large number of such vehicles are required for large groups of people, which led to the idea of creating an off-road bus.
The Torsus Praetorian looks like a vehicle from Mad Max. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it was created from scratch and isn’t a rework of an existing bus. The body is made of composite materials, which makes it corrosion-resistant. The bus weighs 13.5 tons.
The engine, chassis, and transmission are manufactured by MAN. The six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine develops 240 hp and allows speeds of up to 117 km/h. The bus has all-wheel drive, and the ground clearance reaches 389 mm.
The cabin can accommodate up to 35 passengers. There is the possibility of creating a medical version capable of transporting up to 12 patients on stretchers.
The plan is to produce the off-road bus in Bratislava. It is already ready to be purchased by ski resorts in Georgia and New Zealand, and the authorities of Bangladesh want to order 105 Torsus Praetorians right away (including medical ones). One oil production company also plans to purchase 70 more buses. TopZhyr via Ekonomichna Pravda
