Bricklin SV-1 is a rare Canadian car, which was produced for only two years – from 1974 to 1976. According to unofficial data, fewer than 2800 of these sports cars were made, and one of them, it turns out, is in Ukraine!

In some sense (in terms of exclusivity and rarity), it can be compared to a DeLorean, although, of course, in terms of cult status, the latter is far superior. Despite this, the Bricklin SV-1 can and should be considered very rare and exclusive, especially in our country. According to unofficial data, this specimen is the only one in Ukraine, although it is not customs cleared. It is currently for sale. Price – $16,000.

But it must be said that buying a Canadian Bricklin is not easy even abroad, including in its homeland, where, by the way, there is an entire club of admirers of this model, for which the prototype was the Chevrolet Corvette. The cost varies greatly and can exceed 50 thousand dollars (and more) for first-generation cars (140 of which were released). Almost the entire run was sold in the USA.

Initially, the car was equipped with an AMC 360 engine with 229 hp and a 4-speed Chrysler automatic on the Bricklin Canada Co. factory. The company positioned the car as the “safest vehicle,” and its key feature was (and still is) the unusual “gull-wing” doors, which on early cars opened too slowly (10 seconds), but subsequently, the opening time was reduced to 2 seconds.

From 1975 until the end of production, the Bricklin SV-1 was powered by a 175 hp Ford Windsor engine, paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The reduction in power and the stiffness of the new gearbox essentially predicted the production’s end – numerous consumer complaints reduced demand to zero.
