One of Bentley’s shareholders, racer and businessman Woolf Barnato, bet that he could outrun the Blue Train express. At that time, it was one of the fastest trains in the world, running between Cannes and London. 
Barnato challenged the Blue Train with a standard 180-horsepower Bentley Speed 6 sedan. Despite the heavy fog and a blown tire, the Briton won. He arrived in London just as the train was being loaded onto the ferry across the English Channel.
To commemorate the unusual race, Barnato ordered the unique Bentley Speed 6 Sportsman Coupe for himself. Today, this car is worth millions and it’s unlikely that one could even buy a Bentley.
