In Ukraine, affordable customs clearance for cars with euro plates has been launched

As of today, May 15, preferential tariffs for customs clearance of cars have come into effect in Ukraine. They will be valid for 180 days, and for combatants – 270 days.

As is known, customs clearance for cars with euro plates will be calculated according to a simplified formula: base rate + Ve + Fe.

The base rate is:

  • for cars aged 5-9 years – 0 euros;
  • for cars aged 10 years – 25 euros;
  • for cars aged 11 years – 50 euros;
  • for cars aged 12 years – 75 euros;
  • for cars aged 13 years – 100 euros;
  • for cars aged 14 years – 125 euros;
  • for cars aged 15 years and older – 150 euros.

Ve – the tax rate on cars:

  • 0.25 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with an engine capacity up to 2000 cubic cm;
  • 0.2 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with an engine capacity of 2001-3000 cubic cm;
  • 0.25 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with an engine capacity of 3001-4000 cubic cm;
  • 0.35 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with an engine capacity of 4001-5000 cubic cm;
  • 0.5 euros per 1 cubic cm – for cars with an engine capacity over 5000 cubic cm.

Fe – a 100 euros tax for gasoline and diesel models. It is zero for hybrids and electric vehicles.

On average, customs clearance of used cars in Ukraine will cost just over 1000 euros. However, there are a number of restrictions – for instance, one citizen can only register one car of Euro-2 standard and above, imported into Ukraine before December 31, 2020. A fine of 8500 hryvnias will also need to be paid.
