In Ukraine, the excise tax on fuel is being reinstated and VAT remains at 7%

The betrayal is canceled, but partially – the excises will be returned to the pre-war level, but the VAT will not be 20% (as it was before the war), but 7%. In theory, this will mean that gasoline and diesel will not soar to 70 UAH/l, as some experts (and “experts” as well) predicted.

Does this mean that the prices will remain +- at today’s level? Hardly, but again, it’s not worth expecting a significant price jump – if there is one, it will be barely noticeable. It is also worth noting the type of fuel. Yes, the Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada approved the revised draft law No. 7668-d, which will return the excises, according to which:

  • the excise tax on gas is returned at the rate of 52 euros/1000 (and not 100 euros as it was in the government version);
  • the excise tax and VAT for alternative types of fuel, with the addition of bioethanol, are also equated to 100 euros/1000 (currently it was as before the war: 162 euros/1000 liters);
  • everything else (gasoline and diesel) 100 euros/1000 liters, as proposed by the Government.
