A Rare Retro Car Damaged by Occupants Restored in Ukraine (photo) en

TopZhir learned about a tragic story with a happy ending. We are talking about a unique and very rare GAZ M-20 convertible, commonly known as “Pobeda,” but in this case, “Victory” is indeed more appropriate. This retro car survived occupation and was damaged by russists, yet it remained unbroken.

According to the members of the “Ukrainian Automobile Club,” the garage in Kyiv region where the club stored part of its retro collection was damaged during hostilities. Some valuable specimens were completely destroyed, others – damaged to varying degrees. But this GAZ convertible got lucky – it was “wounded.” As a result of the occupants’ actions, it suffered the following damages: a pierced radiator, holes, and scratches on the body, broken windows, a mutilated interior…

But this “Pobeda,” like Ukraine’s victory, is valuable and essential for our Motherland, so the club members decided to restore it by any means and as quickly as possible.

Thanks to professional and experienced restorers from two workshops, the rare car was returned to its pristine appearance. But, of course, as the “Ukrainian Automobile Club” writes: “we will never forget all the evil caused by the russists to Ukraine and our seemingly common historical heritage.”

It should be noted that the GAZ M20 in the convertible body is indeed a very valuable and rare rarity. After all, throughout the production years of this model, only 14,222 convertibles were produced, but only a few have survived to our times! Currently, such a car is the dream of every Soviet car collector (and not only), and its price can reach $100,000!
