News about the Volvo XC70
Volvo has previously showcased the XC70 concept, and now Chinese regulators have fully revealed the model’s specifications. This is not surprising, as the crossover will initially enter the Chinese market but may later appear in other countries.
In terms of design, the XC70 resembles other models of the brand with streamlined lines and clear shapes. Despite being a hybrid, the front grille is fully closed, like in electric vehicles. However, the lower air intake has an active regulation system for optimal cooling and aerodynamics.
Technical features
The LED headlights with the distinctive “Thor’s Hammer” design are complemented by matrix optics. The side profiles feature hidden door handles, aerodynamic wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches, and a panoramic roof. The rear is executed in a minimalist style with vertical taillights.
Dimensions of the XC70: length — 189.6 inches (4,815 mm), width — 74.4 inches (1,890 mm), height — 65 inches (1,650 mm). The wheelbase is 114 inches (2,895 mm), which is 3.5 inches shorter than other Volvo models.
The 161 hp (120 kW) engine works in tandem with battery options: lithium-iron-phosphate or lithium-ion. The crossover’s weight is 5,600 lbs (2,540 kg), and the top speed is 112 mph (180 km/h).
Volvo notes that the XC70 is specifically designed to meet the demand for hybrids with a long range in China.
The model is built on the SMA platform and offers up to 124 miles (200 km) of range on electric power alone. This makes it one of the most efficient in its class.
The crossover is expected to become popular among buyers looking for eco-friendly yet practical solutions. Its market launch could change perceptions about hybrid cars, especially in regions where electric vehicle infrastructure is still developing.
